Missed the launch? Watch the recording!
Last week, we unveiled the product evolution we’ve been working on for years: the world's first FactoryOS®. This highly anticipated virtual launch covered the origins of the new Amper FactoryOS and its powerful capabilities.
Whether you missed the event or simply want a recap, here are the nine most important things you need to know about the Amper FactoryOS.
Amper was born out of the realization that collecting shop floor data was unnecessarily complicated. But as we kept working with manufacturers, a deeper truth emerged: These businesses actually needed much more than machine monitoring.
So many parts need to be coordinated for it to be successful. Because a shop is more than just machines: it’s people, jobs, and systems as well. That means that any manufacturer relying on machine data to improve productivity and profitability will be making decisions with huge blind spots. What good is machine uptime data when your ERP standards are inaccurate? What good is utilization when your operators aren’t productive as they should be?
Manufacturers need to understand the entire ecosystem of their operations if they truly wish to transform them. So we evolved to help them do just that.
Amper FactoryOS is redefining the way we approach manufacturing technology. With Amper FactoryOS, users can now access a comprehensive suite of tools and features that go beyond monitoring. This includes real-time job tracking, revenue insights, advanced reporting capabilities, and more, allowing manufacturers to optimize their operations like never before.
Amper FactoryOS breaks down the barriers of siloed data by providing a centralized platform that consolidates information from different sources. This means that teams can collaborate more effectively, make data-driven decisions, and drive overall efficiency across the manufacturing process.
When manufacturers can break through the silos and actually see the full picture of their operations, they can finally start working toward realizing their shop’s potential. What does that look like? We’ve distilled it into 5 key outcomes:
First things first: what good is a trove of powerful features if they’re hard to find and navigate? We’re starting off this list of new releases with Amper’s improved user interface. Sleek and intuitive, this new UI is designed to streamline navigation.
Not only does it have a cleaner look, but the updated interface also now organizes the app by outcomes. What does this mean? The layout follows six “paths,” or essential categories that every manufacturer tries to improve.
The purpose of this was to group features more intentionally. We believe that it is only when manufacturers think of their shops holistically that they can make properly informed decisions to improve their operations.
Introducing paths in our app makes it easier for manufacturers to think this way. When you log in to the FactoryOS, you’ll immediately see Today’s Snapshot. This is a quick glimpse into what’s happening in your factory this very moment. It’s an overview of high-level metrics like utilization and snapshots of your machine states.
Underneath the real-time snapshot lie the six paths. So now, instead of sifting through piles of individual puzzle pieces, manufacturers now have all the pieces (shop data) split and organized into six buckets (paths). Plus, with the addition of a powerful search bar, it’s infinitely easier to work toward the final vision on the box lid: a more connected and profitable shop.
We know (and celebrate) that every shop is different. That’s why we introduced custom fields and custom reporting with our Custom Report Builder: to allow every Amper user to see their data their way. It’s a simple way to:
With the Custom Report Builder feature, you can generate new reports tailored to your specific needs and goals. Track custom fields, choose your favorite visualization, and get the insights you value the most in the easiest way possible.
You can rearrange, mix and match, cut down, or beef up existing reports—or build entirely new ones from scratch.
Another exciting feature unveiled during the virtual launch is Target Tracker. This tool is your secret superpower to really wow customers and surpass the competition when it comes to on-time delivery.
Once you use Target Tracker to enhance productivity, optimize resource allocation, and drive overall operational excellence, you’ll wonder how you ever worked without it.
Tracking jobs and personalizing your data is helpful, but at the end of the day, that’s all part of understanding how things are affecting your revenue. The Revenue Breakdown Dashboard offers a comprehensive overview and granular breakdown of how the elements of your shop are impacting your profitability.
This dashboard allows manufacturers to visualize and analyze their financial performance, identify areas of improvement, and know precisely what will maximize profitability. By gaining these insights, it’s easier to optimize processes, reduce expenses, and stay on top of your bottom line.
Speaking of granular breakdowns… next up is the digital Hour-by-Hour Board. If you think the one you have on a whiteboard somewhere is good enough, don’t skip this part.
The Hour-by-Hour Board feature enables manufacturers to monitor and analyze production performance on an hourly basis—without relying on constant manual input and word of mouth.
This real-time visualization provides valuable insights into:
By leveraging the Hour-by-Hour Board, manufacturers can pinpoint opportunities for improvement, optimize production schedules, and drive continuous improvement across their operations. Can your whiteboard do that?
During the launch of FactoryOS, we revealed the secret to getting that high-performing workforce: Labor Metrics. This feature shows you everything related to labor efficiency and performance. Track key metrics such as labor multiplier, total engaged hours, direct time, and more.
With such detailed real-time data and visualizations, you can make better informed decisions about resource allocation, compensation, hiring, and training to increase productivity and drive operational excellence.
Completing a job and gearing up for the next one involves a long checklist of things that need to happen. These items go from programming to swapping out tools and rounding up the necessary materials.
And at Amper, we understand that supervisors and production managers are spinning a lot of plates. They’re figuring out how long a machine's current job will take, what needs to be prepped for the next one, and so on.
Prepping for changeovers just got a whole lot easier with Amper FactoryOS. Our changeover tracking feature takes the mental labor off your plate, so you can focus on nailing the prep work without having to keep all those tasks straight in your head.
With changeover tracking, you get a clear picture of how much time is left on a job, along with a to-do list of what needs to happen before the next one kicks off. It's about making your life easier, so you can concentrate on the work—not the planning.
The Amper FactoryOS virtual launch event showcased a range of innovative features and updates that are set to revolutionize the manufacturing industry. From the integration of siloed data to the introduction of advanced reporting and monitoring tools, Amper FactoryOS is empowering manufacturers to hire the right people at the right time, understand the true cost of a job, and ship your parts on time, every time.
With the nine key takeaways highlighted in this blog post, you now have a glimpse into the exciting future of manufacturing with Amper FactoryOS. But why not dive in and see for yourself?
